Land Stewardship

Faith communities in the U.S. have hundreds of acres of underutilized land and are collectively one of the largest landowners in the country. Meanwhile, our communities are navigating immense housing, climate and other crises.

Together, through a new vision of land stewardship, we have an opportunity to bring the sacred vision of Shalom to life.

Shalom

Love, Healing and Justice at Every Level of Life.
A divine intention, deeper than simply ʻpeaceʼ, but signifies true thriving, wellbeing, justice and wholeness for all.

Let's work together

Place-based discernment is at the core of our work. Since 2021, we've accompanied over 20 faith communities and institutions across the region in imagining new ways to steward various buildings and land towards Shalom.  â€‹

The invitation: Join the 2025 Faith Land Discernment Cohort

Beginning May 2025 we are gathering the third annual Faith Land Discernment Cohort.

This is a great first step for communities new to collective discernment and the Sacred Organizing tradition. Communities who have participated in the Faith Land Stewardship Cohort have gone on to design focused, strategic experiments around Housing and Land Development, Climate Resilience, Migrant Shelter, and more.

Is this cohort right for us?

• Does your congregation have land or buildings that are underutilized or that you would like to use in new ways?

• Are there 3-5 core team leaders to participate in this 6 month process?

• Do you have a spirit of curiosity and openness to practicing discernment, exploring new possibilities and connecting with others in your community?

If you're interested in joining this year's cohort, send us a message.
